My Pulmonary Rotation
Guide to Clinical Experience at Ephraim McDowell Lung Center

Clinic Basics

  • Monday through Thursday we will meet at the clinic at around 9am. I generally get into the office before 8am to prepare for the day and catch up on messages
  • Friday is my scheduled procedure day and I start most of the time at 7:00am
  • Monday through Thursday we tend to finish up between 4-4:30pm and Friday by noon
  • Dress for the office is business casual, you are adults and I am assuming you understand the meaning
  • If you prefer scrubs I have no objection
  • It is common for our patient population to be sensitive to fragrances, so DO NOT WEAR PERFUMES OR COLONGES
  • Office temperature tends to have more of an influence on my decision to wear my white coat, but you are welcome to go with or without
  • I share my office with two of our mid-level providers and space is at a premium.
  • Since we have multiple specialists in the office, lunch is provided by pharmaceutical and other reps fairly frequently. You are welcome to partake no matter what the sponsor of the lunch may be promoting.
  • Since I live close to the clinic, I generally run home during lunch to check on my dogs
